CONCRETE FOR CHRIST 2011

The last week of February again found the Concrete for Christ Missions Team heading down to the Rio Grande Valley. We were a team of seventeen-men and women with a common purpose-to help our brothers and sisters in Christ in the Valley with work projects which would help their churches meet the needs of their congregations more fully.

Once again this year, we stayed at the Maranatha Bible Church in McAllen. This church was especially designed to be hospitable to people staying in their facility, as they have restrooms complete with showers. We have stayed in this church for three years now, and this year our main project at Maranatha was painting. We painted the large interior entry area and also painted the upstairs hallway of the education wing and the youth room. A separate project was the construction of a video cart which would both support the video cameras being used to video their church services for internet broadcast as well as provide a storage space for the cameras and tripods.

At Valley Community Church in McAllen, we totally gutted and redesigned a kitchen and restroom area for the church. Included in the project was tearing apart cement floors to provide for the new plumbing needs, demolishing and rebuilding walls (including wiring and plumbing), sheetrock installation and installation of cupboards and formica tops. In an adjoining area, we took out the garage doors and enclosed the area to serve as a fellowship area. The Valley Community Church has been growing in numbers each year we visit, and they were greatly in need of the more functional kitchen and expanded fellowship area.

As a team, we very much appreciate the support of the churches and individuals who provide financially for the materials needed for our projects. We couldn't do it without your help!

If participating in next year's trip is something you think you might be interest in, please contact Dennis or Kay Kronberg for more information.

Participating from the Wausa area were Dennis and Kay Kronberg and Roger and Marcy Donner.
